If you
want to hire a car for part or all of your stay here, then Kyle Taxi
Company is the one for you!! You will need to contact them yourself
because they need to take personal details etc. for insurance purposes.
They are happy to bring the car to the hotel for you or you can arrange
to collect it in Kyle. Their daily rates are from a budget friendly
£25 including insurance and they offer discounts for longer periods.
If you
do hire a car, however, we would suggest doing at least one day trip
as a guided tour or hop on the Kyle Railway Line (see page on 'trains
or coaches') - the reason being that unless you have several drivers
in your group sharing the job, your driver will miss out on the fantastic
scenery as they drive around, which would be a real shame for them!
Driving round Skye, Lochalsh and Wester Ross does require concentration
- while the passengers are being awe-inspired by the natural beauty
surrounding them, the poor old driver is focusing on getting their friends
and relatives to the next passing place!
If you
are wanting a guided tour, we are happy to recommend all 3 local companies
to you. They can provide personalised, individual or group tours and
in addition Skyeways has a regular Glenelg Day Tour (3.5 - 6 Hours duration),
that leaves Kyle bus stop every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, for which
it is advisable to reserve a seat.
For cycle
hire there is only one place in Kyleakin and that is Skye Backpackers.
They can provide up to 4 good quality mountain bikes. Their rate is
either £6 for 3 hours or £12 for the day per bike. Their
reception is open from 6.30am - 2pm and again from 5pm - 2am, so collecting
and dropping off the bikes is not a problem! You can contact them directly
